Gobble, Gobble . . .

The CWC and our fellow Canadians met on Sunday 7th October 2018 at Carizma on the Hill, St. James to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving over dinner complete with all the fixings – Turkey, ham, cranberry sauce, freshly baked bread and salad followed by delicious pumpkin pie served with ice cream!   You can view the entire dinner menu here:  DINNER MENU.

We had a fabulous evening celebrating with family and friends – We ate, drank, socialized and the kids even got to have a swim in the pool after dinner! 

We are grateful to have been able to share this event with all of you.   Thank you to everyone who joined us for making it a success!

The CWC recently sponsored Camp PRIDE 2018, a camp organized by the Diabetes Association of Barbados.    The camp took place at the Springer Memorial School between 16^th – 27^th July 2018 and targeted children between the ages of 4 – 14 years.

These children benefitted in many ways through the various organized activities such as dance, arts & crafts, drama time, meal planning, etc.     On Saturday 28^th, the participants got to show off their culinary skills by taking part in a Cook Off .   A wonderful time was had by all!

Our Community Services Chair, Ann Smith, was present at the Cook Off together with representatives from Republic Bank and Bryden Stokes who also sponsored the event.    Ann spoke on behalf of the CWC and made a presentation to the junior students that were in attendance.

On Tuesday 12th June, 2018 the CWC met for its Annual General Meeting at the Maria Holder Diabetes Centre in Warrens.   We were thrilled to see and welcome a few new faces amongst us at this meeting!

During the meeting, one of the CWC’s long-standing Honorary Members, Eleanor Peters, undertook the induction of the CWC’s new Executive Committee for the Year 2018-2019.  Eleanor did a fantastic job as usual and passed on lots of useful advice and information to the new Committee.

On Saturday 30th June, 2018 the CWC celebrated Canada Day on a beautiful West Coast beach with some of our Members, their family and friends.

Special thanks to Mr. Stephen Lewis for manning the BBQ all afternoon and to everyone who came out to join us.   It was a lovely afternoon and, from all accounts, a good time was had by all!
